Vitamins and Prostate Cancer

Executif Summary About Prostate Vitamins by Sandy Szwarc

Too Many Vitamins Could Raise Prostate Cancer Risk

Prostate Vitamins

Prostate Vitamins

Men who pop too many vitamins in the hope of improving their health may in fact be raising their risk of the deadliest forms of prostate cancer, especially men with a family history of the disease, researchers said…. “We didn’t see any relationship with overall prostate cancer,” said Dr. Michael Leitzmann, a National Cancer Institute investigator who worked on the study…. In men who took too many multivitamins, the risk of aggressive cancer increased by one third, and the risk of fatal prostate cancer doubled compared to those who took no multivitamins…

The researchers searched through cancer registries to identify prostate cancers that had been diagnosed five years later. The AARP database was used to look for associations with the men’s diet and vitamin usage. They found no association at all between vitamin usage and total or localized prostate cancers.

Other nonfindings in this study refuted other beliefs in the special cancer-fighting powers of certain “healthy” foods and lifestyles. The men taking the most vitamins and minerals (and with the highest risks for advanced and fatal prostate cancers) were those with the “healthiest” lifestyles.

The men with the highest risks for advanced and fatal prostate cancers were also slimmer, with lower body mass indexes than the men at the lowest risk! Cases of identified prostate cancer were associated with higher family histories for prostate cancer and among men more likely to seek PSA exams and cancer screenings.

So, elderly men with family histories for cancers may have been more likely to have screenings and their cancers identified. Such a simple explanation makes more sense than that an extra vitamin pill causes cancer, doesn’t it?

Prostrate Problems - What You Don’t Know About the The Prostate Gland Could Kill You

Executif Summary About Prostate Vitamins by By John Ward

Women know more about men’s health than men do themselves and that’s a fact. I know when my prostate troubles began, I knew absolutely nothing about the prostate. I have had prostate troubles, survived a cancer scare and watched my sister die from Cancer. Due to my prostate troubles, I became interested in learning about the prostate and how it affected my health.

I cried many times as I watched my sister die.

What is prostate cancer?

Prostate Cancer develops by the growth of cancerous cells within the prostate gland. (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia)

Warning Signs

Early prostate cancer often does not cause symptoms. When symptoms of prostate cancer do occur, they may include some of the following problems:

Do not wait to feel pain; early prostate cancer does not cause pain.

These are two other main prostate problems

1) BPH - (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) is the abnormal growth of benign prostate cells. In an enlarged prostate , the prostate grows larger and pushes against the urethra and bladder, blocking the normal flow of urine. BPH is often the result of prostatitis.

2) Prostatitis refers to prostate inflammation and infection, which can be brief or long-lasting, mild or severe symptoms can include frequent, urgent and painful urination, erectile problems or pain >during ejaculation.

Prostate enlargement, called Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH) is often the result of prostatitis.

Treatment for Prostate Cancer

The treatment given for prostate cancer depends on how advanced or widespread the disease is. If the cancer is small and only present within the prostate gland, it is possible to treat it with surgery (radical prostatectomy) radiotherapy (either external beam radiotherapy or brachytherapy) hormone therapy.

The Hidden Costs of Buying Vitamins For Cheap

Executif Summary About Buying Vitamins by Zach Zufall

Buying Vitamins

Buying Vitamins

Be honest - are you one of those people who puts price above all else when buying vitamins? Well, you’re not going to like this article, because cheap vitamins...as you probably already know somewhere deep down…are cheap for a reason.

Jeans are jeans to you and Levis are quality jeans and will do just fine. Cheap vitamins provide you with poor health benefits at best.

(1) No Manufacturing Oversight

To save money, most vitamin supplement companies contract out the manufacturing of their products. Before production, they should do microbial or heavy metal testing of the raw materials. Before buying vitamins, find out who manufactured them.

(2) No Enteric Coating

Drug companies all use enteric coating. Why don’t most supplement companies use it? It’s expensive. Instead of paying extra for enteric coating, they formulate supplements only using ingredients unaffected by stomach acid.

This is why you see so many vitamin-only supplements or vitamin and mineral supplements.
Before buying vitamins, find out if they use enteric coating. Any vitamin supplement that contains herbal extracts, amino acids, or phytonutrients must have it to guarantee absorption.

(3) No L-Glutathione

It’s critical for cell health and organ functioning. Because l-glutathione (reduced) is expensive. Seriously, it’s 80 times more expensive than vitamin C. Before buying vitamins, see if l-glutathione (reduced) is on the label. Now, after reading just 3 examples, I hope you can see why cheap vitamins are cheap. As you learned, cheap vitamins lack:

1. Manufacturing Oversight

2. Enteric Coating

3. L-Glutathione (reduced)

Hidden costs? How can you possibly quantify the costs of contamination, no potency confirmation, poor absorption, and lack of one of the most effective ingredients? Buying vitamins is a long-term investment in your health - Get it right the first time.

Vitamin E and Selenium - Can They Prevent Prostate Cancer?

Executif Summary About Vitamin Selenium by Karen Pijuan

admin : doower

Vitamin Selenium

A study by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) was recently halted when it failed to show a reduction in prostate cancer with Vitamin E and Selenium supplementation. Synthetic Vitamin E Not the Same as Natural Vitamin E We have to remember that synthetic vitamins are not the same as the natural kinds, and this includes vitamin E. It appears that especially with synthetic antioxidants and synthetic fat soluble vitamins (A, D & E), damage can actually occur in your body. If you take vitamin A with vitamin D, as in naturally occurring cod liver oil, you can take more without any toxicity. Natural Vitamin E Boosts Immune Function
The synthetic version of vitamin E has a “dl-” in the name, as in dl-alpha tocopherol acetate that they used in this study, so make sure and stay away from that. Natural Vitamin E, on the other hand, has been shown in many studies to boost immune function and that of course helps protect you from cancer. Always check out studies thoroughly before believing what you read! Look for Vitamin E with All 8 Components Most vitamin E products are only the alpha tocopherol, which is really only one part of natural vitamin E.

Four Important Nutrients - Vitamin E, Selenium, Sodium and Potassium - For Good Health

Executif Summary About Vitamin Selenium by Rudy Silva

Vitamin E Taking a dose of Vitamin E of 400 to 800 IU is appropriate. Higher doses can be taken for particular diseases - intestine disease, liver disease, pancreas disease, and surgical removal of stomach, but - for the average person this dose is enough. The type of Vitamin E you should take is: d-alpha tocopherol - this is the nature Vitamin E. When buying Vitamin E get the Vitamin that contains the family of Natural Vitamin E for better health such as, d-alpha tocopherol succinate, gamma, delta and beta. Avoid using the synthetic Vitamin E. The synthetic is called, dl-alpha tocopherol. Wheat germ, whole-grain cereals, and green leafy vegetables are good sources of Vitamin E. Cooking and storage may destroy some of the vitamin E in foods. Selenium Here’s another important nutrient - Selenium. Eating fruits and vegetables is critical in keeping your body alkaline. And, if you drink water it does not make sense to drink plain water. If you’re going to drink water why not drink alkaline water, and give yourself two important minerals that make your body alkaline - ionic sodium and ionic potassium. An acid body is destructive to body tissue, and to organ function.
